One of the most exciting traits of our raw, solid slabs in the potential they possess to be transformed into practically anything you can imagine. And while we’ve spent years developing a diverse core product line that’s both beautiful and practical, we understand the variety of needs and applications of our customers and strive to accommodate those needs.
Today, roughly half of our business is comprised of custom pieces, made to order for a single individual, family, or organization. We like to think that if you can dream it, we can build it. So go on, dream away... our design team is ready help make them a reality.
GOOD TO KNOW
The process of creating a custom furnishing can be fun and rewarding for all parties. Prior to beginning any custom project, we like to share as much information as possible with our customers so expectations can be set and therefore more easily met. We do our best to limit the added costs associated with design and the procurement of the necessary materials by asking the right questions to help maximize efficiency throughout the project. Any images or descriptions that can be provided up front that illustrate your ideas are always helpful.
Each piece begins with a vision. Sometimes that vision is stated very clearly by the customer and other times it evolves over the course of the project to materialize into something unexpected but equally spectacular. As with everything we do, our design experts and craftsmen are there to offer guidance and advice every step of the way. Digital rendering services are available and often serve as a tools for final approval prior to cutting wood. Rendering fees vary depending on the project and in most cases can be applied toward the total price.
Below is a step-by-step guide to help you find the perfect piece:
1. PICK YOUR PIECE
Start with the basics: is it a table, a desk, a countertop, or a freestanding island? Draw inspiration from our core product line or share your ideas for something completely different.
2. SELECT YOUR MATERIALS
WOOD | CreatedTM stocks hundreds of slabs of wood in a variety of species and grades, each with their own set of characteristics, availability and price points. Browse our inventory of finished slabs or, depending on species and grade, choose from select in-stock raw slabs. Don’t see what you’re looking for? Request a special order– we source non-native and exotic slabs from all over the world!
In addition to the wood’s species and grade, the cut and finish can contribute to the overall look of the piece and also affect the total cost. Consider all options up front and narrow them down to fit your style and budget.
HARDWARE | In addition to the wood, our bases and hardware often contribute to the overall effect of the piece with a number of styles and finishes available. Browse our proprietary designs or request a custom design.
3. SELECT YOUR SIZE
The majority of our custom orders are comprised of off-sized versions of core line products. We stock slabs that range in length from 5 feet to 25 feet long and can accommodate any length in between. While widths are often determined by the size of our available inventory, our products can be made to varying widths with book matching and other joinery methods. Heights are often determined by hardware which can be made to custom specifications. Case goods including credenzas and cabinets come in standard sizes but can also be made to various lengths, widths, depths, and heights.
4. SELECT YOUR DELIVERY METHOD
Our standard turnaround time for custom pieces is 6-8 weeks, however many of our custom products are ordered for new construction and therefore delivery dates are specified three months to a year in advance. Please let us know when you’d like to receive your product so arrangements can be made. We do our best to accommodate special needs of our customers, but due to space limitations and damage liability, additional fees may apply for storage at our facilities.
We deliver anywhere in the US and Canada and offer several delivery methods ranging from in-store pickup to in-home white glove delivery and assembly, depending on the customers’ needs and budget. We’re happy to include a shipping quote with the estimated cost of the project.
